María Elena Gómez Parra is a Full Professor, affiliated with the Department of English and German Philologies at the University of Córdoba (UCO). Her area of expertise is bilingual and intercultural education. She leads the Research Group HUM-1006 entitled Bilingual and Intercultural Education (EBeI). She is the director of the Iberoamerican Network for Bilingual and Intercultural Education (IBIE) and is the Principal Investigator (PI) of three research projects on bilingualism. She has published in numerous international journals on second language learning, intercultural education, and bilingual education. She has participated as a researcher in many international projects (IP, Comenius, and KA2, among others), is the Director of the Erasmus Mundus Master's program Play, Education, Toys and Languages (PETaL), and has led the KA203 TEACUP project (Teachers, Culture, Pluri) (2019-1-ES01-KA203-064412). Additionally, she has participated as a speaker in international conferences related to bilingual education and intercultural education, and as an invited lecturer in important international meetings related to international cooperation (e.g., October 16, 2016, Africa Climate Talk, where she delivered a plenary lecture on the role of women in sustainable development). She has also been the director of bilingual teacher training courses (Primary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Secondary Education) at the Menéndez Pelayo International University (2017 and 2018), and the president of the International Conference on Bilingual Education (which has been organized continuously from 2015 to the present).
